The best way to fix this would be to build a Magic ETL dataflow with this dataset as the input dataset. You can then use the Alter Columns Tile to change the data types, or you can click on the Input Dataset and click on Data Handling and choose what type you want to change it to as well as clicking on the wheel cog to handle errors. Finally, add an output dataset and then build your cards off of this output dataset.
