Can I dynamically change chart properties when using DOMO variables?

I am using the variable feature to create a dynamic bar chart that updates to show various metrics depending on the selection made. All but one of the possible choices of metrics are measured as a percentage. However, one of the of the metrics is a count, not a percent. I have updated chart properties so it looks good when metrics measured in percentage are shown but it looks bad when the count metric is selected.
Is it possible to alter chart properties based on selected variable value? See example below.
Variable value not measured in percentage and looks bad when selected.
Variable value measured in percentage and looks good when selected.

I've had similar issues with this. I'd post it to the idea board: https://dojo.domo.com/main/categories/ideas
