Can I take the Data Specialist certification with only a little experience outside of the training?
I've been through the Data Specialist training a couple of times now but haven't had a lot of time using our production Domo instance. Is it reasonable to believe I can take and pass the certification? I'm concerned that I might be in a 'What comes first? The chicken or the egg?' paradigm. I can't get the access levels I need in Domo without proving I know what I am doing and potentially, at the same time, I can't the cert because I can't get the access levels I need. I'm hoping the cert can come first and be used as proof/argument for more access in Domo.

That is a difficult position you are in. Reading the KB articles and the Domo videos will help, but I personally learn best by being able to interact with the tools. One option you might want to look into is to request your own developer Domo instance. It is a full instance, but just for you to work in. You can request it here.

It won't have any data from your main instance, but it will allow you to import and create anything you want.
Hope this helps.

You should be able to use the Dataset Copy Connector to copy datasets between instances. For dataflows, it will be slightly more manual, but when you are editing an ETL, you can select all the tiles in the ETL and then choose Copy to Clipboard and then paste them into an empty ETL in your production instance and then just re-associate the input and output datasets.
For full dev to prod functionality, Domo offers their Sandbox, but it is a premium feature and costs $$.

Ok. Now that is an interesting option. Can you think of a way to share/move what I play around with in the Sandbox with the owners of the production Domo instance in my company?

You can invite other people to your developer instance as it is a full instance. This would allow you to show your completed work to others if that is what you need to do. It really functions just the same as a regular instance. Domo just asks that you don't use it for production purposes.

Can you move things between the sandbox and production? I would hate to have to rebuild everything in production.
