What to Know Before Implementing Domo Certifications
Hello, my team is looking into using the certification process in Domo for the first time. Our goal in using it would be to better organize and manage our instance, to easily identify our forward-facing assets, and to make clean-up of junk cards and datasets easier in the future.
I was wondering if anyone has used this particular feature in Domo and how the process went. What are some lessons learned? Did it make governance of your instance easier? Are there any caveats to look out for or tips on using the certification feature?

It works well if effort and training are put towards it. Make sure to train your users that only certified things are to be trusted and used for reporting purposes. The other thing is to determine the different departments and levels of certification you want to apply for and who is in charge of giving the approval. Should it be a single person or does it need to go to a group or through a chain of people to receive approval? Make sure you have a consistent process defined in terms of what is expected to pass through the certification process and make that available to users so they know what was done to ensure the certification.
Things like:
- Visualization expectations
- Titles, tooltips, data labels, color schemes, etc.
- Data Accuracy
- Dataset powering cards are certified
- Anything that is critical to make sure it's accurate and consistent for your forward-facing assets.
Also making sure that users can't make changes to your certified content by either locking down pages, changing ownership or other methods is important however if changes are made the certification flag will be removed from certified content.
