Circles timelines are good for showing discrete values of varying size across multiple categories (eg earthquakes by continent)

How to build in Analyzer:

  1. Select 'Scatterplot' under 'Popular Charts' as the Chart Type
  2. Create Calculated Field named 'Dummy Field': 1
  3. Drag 'Date' to X-Axis
  4. Drag 'Dummy Field' into 'Y Axis'
  5. Drag 'Region' into 'Series'
  6. Drag 'Sales' into 'Bubble Size'
  7. In Chart Properties, configure the following:
    1. General -> Font Size: Larger
    2. General -> Symbol Border Colour: White
    3. General -> Symbol Transparency Percent: 30
    4. Quadrant Lines-> Y Scale Value: 1
    5. Gridlines -> 'Hide All Grids' checked
    6. Data Label Settings -> Text as %_BUBBLE_VALUE
    7. Data Label Settings -> Text Size: Small
    8. Data Label Settings -> Justification: Center
    9. Data Label Settings -> 'Use Scale Format' checked
    10. Data Label Settings -> 'Use Scale Abbreviation' checked
    11. Value Scale (Y) -> 'Show Label': Never
    12. Value Scale (X) -> 'Show Label': Never
    13. Hover Text Settings -> Hover Text as
