Fixed Scale on Packed Bubble Chart?

The Packed Bubble chart type is exactly what my user is looking for (I know, there are better options for data viz 😂). Unfortunately, I need to create a few copies of the same report for comparison on the same dashboard, and it doesn't appear that there is a fixed scale option on that chart type.

Anyone figured out a way to do this? Otherwise I guess I'll submit an idea request. I checked for options in the app store but no luck.

I don't think that is possible with this chart type, but you could try using a beast mode like I suggested but rather than a constant value, create a long case statement where you are setting the value.

  • If I'm understanding you correctly, you want all bubbles the same size even though they have different values. You can do this by creating a beast mode that has a value of 1 and then put that in the values field and choose Min for the aggregation. You can then drag the value you want displayed into the tooltip 1 field and then go to Chart Properties and Data Label Settings and add Tooltip1 to the Text section.

  • Hi Mark -

Apologies, no, I want the sizes to vary within a chart but remain the same across iterations of the chart. For example, if I create one that has bubbles of sizes 3, 4, and 5, I want the 3 bubble to be the same size as in another version that has bubbles of sizes 1, 2, and 3. Kind of like setting a max value on a y axis in a bar graph so you can compare between two versions.

    Make sense?
