Custom Domo to Excel Writeback

Hi all,

We would like to automate the export of data into excel. Unfortunately, the Domo Office plug-ins un-pivot the data and make it unusable for our purpose. We talked to Domo support about this and they did not have a resolution nor did they indicate that this was something they would fix in the near future.

Our current work around is to just download each table from the dashboard but this is very time consuming.

Has anyone built a custom Excel connector to get around this? Or approached this in another way? Our end goal is to export all of the data from a dashboard into one file (with one table per sheet).

I've utilized Python and the pydomo package to export data from Domo and then utilize the pandas package to export the different datasets to an excel file. It's a bit technical and involved but gave me the greatest flexibility.

The excel Add-ins (as distinct from the older "plugins") should not unpivot your tables when used. This was a recent update we made a few months ago.
I would try that again and let me know what the outcome is @Nahanaeli

Unfortunately, we tried this last week and I just tried again. You can only export the Pivot table as an image. If you try to export it as a Data Table it unpivots the data.

Can you link me to where this update happened? I can discuss with my Customer Success manager.

@Nahanaeli - What specific card type are you using? Can you show me a screenshot of your analyzer configuration? (Feel free to blur the data in the table if need be)
