Week Ending instead of Week Starting
Hello -
I recently began transitioning our Finance group over to Domo but I've run into a big snag with their adoption with regards to the labeling of cards. Today all of our financial reporting is based on week ending.
Currently in Domo - when you create a card in Analyzer using a Date as the x-axis and group by week, the x-axis will be labeled based on the first day in that week. i.e the period of 5/17/2020 - 5/24/2020 will be labeled 5/17/2020.
I'd like to be able to label each week using the week ENDING date instead. I can't use a beastmode as a workaround for this (Something like group the days and return the MAX date) because that disables the built-in "Compare to prior periods" functionality.
Does anyone have any ideas for resolving? We've explored updating our fiscal date settings but Support doesn't believe that would help us in this case.
Thanks!
Chad

Unfortunately, even adding the week ending date in an ETL wouldn't work either. The Period over Period charts forces the week beginning date vs the hard-coded date.
The only option after reaching our to our CSM and PM for visualization is to manually build our own PoP cards as described in this knowledge base article: https://knowledge.domo.com/Visualize/Adding_Cards_to_Domo/KPI_Cards/Transforming_Data_Using_Beast_Mode/Sample_Beast_Mode_Calculations%3A_Period-over-Period_Transforms

I always advise my clients to build a date dimension (one row for every day since the dawn of time, with the columns for all the date attributes of interest (ex. end of month, end of week, end of quarter) etc.
This gives users a graceful way to handle Calendar Years and Fiscal Calendars (which may have an offset year start) and Retail Calendars (which may operate on weeks).
Yes, this means you can't use the period over period charts, but you can easily accomplish the same things the POP charts give you with more flexibility if you get comfortable using a date dimension table.

Your Domo YouTube content is like GOLD! I've run across a number of your solutions in my quest for knowledge.
We hadn't considered that before but it's a great idea. The new Domo views feature would make having a date dimension table super handy. Thank you!
