SAP S/4 HANA

We currently use Microsoft Navision and will be implementing SAP S/4 HANA. I was under the impression that I would be able to build up the data in a very similar fashion to what I have done with the Navision data. For example, our sales data consists of two basic tables "Sales Invoice Header" and "Sales Invoice Line". I envisioned in SAP, there would be "Sales Invoice Header" and "Sales Invoice Line" datasets that I would extract. Obviously, they wouldn't contain exactly the same information from one system to another, but the basics would be there, Invoice Number, Customer Number, Item Number, Price, etc.

However, I have been told by our project manager that it is nearly impossible to build up the data in an ETL using source datasets from SAP. I just can't quite wrap my head around how it would be possible for the data to be so fragmented that I can't pull source datasets from SAP and transform them in the ETL to make them useful.

Are there any users who have had experience connecting and building SAP S/4 HANA data in Domo who could share their experience and how they are connecting and transforming their data?

Thanks!

  • I haven't used SAP S/4 HANA and, judging by the lack of responses within the long period since your initial post, I would say nobody else has either. I agree with you, what the project manager is saying doesn't sound correct. In my experience, project managers for systems migrations act like they know everything and will give you definitive answers of "not possible" far more often than is true. Have you tried exploring the data yourself to see if all the data and fields you need are there? Should be as simple as finding all that, bringing it all into Domo, figuring out the mappings, and joining them all in Magic.

    Hi @barb_barney_88,

Based on the details you shared, we recommend using the SAP HANA Connector. You can connect to your SAP HANA account through the Data Center and follow the steps outlined in the Knowledge Base article HERE.

If you have any more questions, Domo support can walk you through it.
