App Components in App Studio allow you to design interactive, visually rich pages that go far beyond traditional charts. With customizable visual building blocks, you can create experiences that feel more like an app than a dashboard, without writing a single line of code.
You can build dynamic lists, galleries, banners, and detail views powered by DataSets. With support for filters, actions, styling, and templates, App Components help you tell better stories with your data.
🔧 How to get started:
- Open the App you want to edit in App Studio
- In the left panel, choose the App Component you want to use. For example, Gallery.
- Pick a template from the available options and click Save
- Click on Power from Data, and select the DataSet that will drive your component
🛠️ Configuration happens in two areas:
Right-hand panel:
Customize behavior and formatting:
- Select one of the widgets
- Check Right-Hand Panel and define and choose which data columns power each widget, define image URLs, and apply filters or interactivity
Left panel (Component Editor):
Select individual widgets, like text, images, or buttons, from the widget list to customize layout and structure
✅ Best practices for building with App Components:
- Each App Component is powered by a single DataSet, so if you need to work with more than one, use multiple components on the same page
- Prepare your DataSet before connecting it, especially if you need rankings, aggregations, or calculated fields—use Magic ETL or Data Views to get it ready
- Start with templates to speed up design, then adjust styling to match your story and brand
- Guide users through key flows by combining visual context, key metrics, and interactivity to deliver a true app-like experience
Try it this week with a simple DataSet, and turn a table into a dynamic, visual experience
It’s drag, drop, and done. 📱✨
