Has anyone ever deleted a copy of a dashboard and then the original dashboard gets deleted with it?

I created a copy of a dashboard and then decided to delete the copy, but when I did, Domo deleted the original dashboard too without me having done anything to it. Has this ever happened to anyone? I need the original dashboard back ASAP, so if anyone has experienced this before and would know how to restore that, I would really appreciate the assistance. Thank you in advance.

  • @MParr I've not experienced this, but I recommend reaching out to Domo Support to see if they can restore the old dashboard.

  • @MichelleH Thank you for the recommendation! They said it would cost up to $25,000, so I will unfortunately need to rebuild, but I really appreciate your help!

  • @MParr At our company we have a process to archive pages rather than delete them.

    1. Create a page called something like "Archived Pages"
    2. Move the page you want to archive as a subpage of "Archived Pages"
    3. Remove sharing for everyone but you (and maybe your team as well)
    4. Add [Archived] or [ARC] as a prefix to the page
    5. Optional: Add a text box on the top of the page explaining when it was archived, why it was archived and if there is a replacement page.

It just so happens that Karl Altern at Domo has created a way to automate the archiving of pages if you need to do them in mass. I'm sure he'd be glad to talk through it with you, karl.altern@domo.com.

  • @ColemenWilson This is a great process, thank you for sharing! I'll recommend this to my team and will reach out to Karl. I greatly appreciate your help!

  • Also, if it makes you feel any better, I once deleted a page that had 27 highly used subpages that got deleted with it. It was the worst day of my career.

  • @ColemenWilson I'm so sorry this happened to you too, I completely relate! It's the WORST. My original dashboard was supposed to be presented to exec and our top clients, so I made the copy to test out some new stuff without impacting the original and then Domo didn't copy the cards over, so I went to delete the copy, and here we are. NOT fun. I really appreciate your advice!
