Sharing Cards and Dashboards via Admin Content notifications

There are several places to share Cards and Dashboards, but they do not all work the same. I have stumbled on this a couple of times and it has tripped me up causing me to accidentally send email notifications to users. I am wondering if I'm missing something or this is an inconsistency in how the UI works. Thanks.
if you add a group or user to a Dashboard from the Admin Content screen, you are prompted to confirm/checkbox if you want to send an email.
But, if you add a group or user to a Card from the Admin Content screen, the user or group is added without the prompt and an email is automatically sent to that user.
