Why do Domo App Studio cards show a filtered sign on all cards when a date variable is used in the Beast Mode's case statement to calculate KPI values within a date range? How can I make the cards show a filtered sign only when I filter the data using the date range controls between a certain start and end date?

In that snip, there are values in the two date filters, which I believe is what is triggering the filter icons. Have you tried clearing those two filters?
I don't think you can add any conditions to the filter icons, but you can turn them off for the whole page
