Group by changing columns data type?

I have daily per-item data. I am creating a new View so that it is grouped by month. When I select group by month, it converts the column's data type from date to text. Why? And how do I prevent this? Domo should already support MM-YYYY formatting

Funny enough, I just answered this for someone else. So your better bet is to use the CAST and CONCAT function to make a date like 2022-09-01 and then you can change how it is displayed to be 2020-Sep or whatever you want.
