Process for using Workbench to read a Sharepoint Excel File

Hi,

I'm trying to set up Workbench to read a sharepoint stored excel file.

While in sharepoint I am generating a link to the file (which is a web https:// link) but after putting this into Workbench as a "local file" it fails to reach the file. Guidance on what I'm missing in Workbench or Sharepoint to get this working would be very much appreciated.

BTW - I am working with my IT department to get the Online Rest connector working (it's requesting Admin rights despite being set up in Azure as per the guide) but this is throwing up other issues right now which is why I am looking at Workbench as a short term solution.

@user065217 if this is a short term fix, why don't you just download the file instead of trying to pass a URL?

also it looks like sharepoint has native functionality for syncing files with a local machine ...

I guess I should clarify that short term is currently nearly 4 months with no solution in sight. Maybe I should have said desperate fix. :)

I'd like it to run as independently as possible, while Workbench isn't great it at least runs at the service level which means my "Workbench PC" just needs to be powered rather than logged in.

The files I'm looking to upload are also manually updated themselves which means no fixed times for me to do a daily update. Getting Workbench to update hourly etc is a preferred solution.

I got the impression Workbench supported Sharepoint, if by that they mean, as you mention, to mirror locally then this really should be made more explicit in the docs.

@user065217 i have no idea if WB can access URL links, i'm just proposing a solution that will work.

WB can be configured to only execute when files are modified. (just search for update, https://knowledge.domo.com/Connect/Connecting_to_Data_Using_Workbench_5/Scheduling_a_Job_in_Workbench_5_(with_new_features))
