Running Total by Year

Hello,

I am trying to create a running total graph that resets every year year. So from January to December will be a running total but when the new year starts, it resets.

Thanks

A couple of ways to go about this.

    1) Build out the running total sums in an ETL and then use the period over period card.

    2) Use the running total line card

Set your X axis to something like (Just change it to whatever timespan you want to look at)

    CONCAT(MONTHNAME(`Date`),' Week ',WEEK(`Date`))

Set your value as the Y axis and then the Series to:

    YEAR(`Date`)

If you only want to show through the current day (including the previous year, ie 2018-02-04)

Then add a filter that says:

    CASE WHEN DAYOFYEAR(`Date`) <= DAYOFYEAR(CURRENT_DATE()) THEN 1 ELSE 0 END

    And set it to 1.

    Hope that helps,

So under the Line chart type there is a 'Running Total Line'. Set that card up using your date column and value.

Now at the top right of the chart window, set the timeframe to 'This Year'. That will allow the running total line to continue to progress for the current year and then beginning next year it will reset.

Hope thats what you're looking for.

    Sincerely,

    Valiant

  • Is it possible to show more than one year?  I would like to show 2018 full progression and 2019 resetting at 0.
