Workbench - Watch File

I have a few files in Workbench set up 'Watch File'
Does the Watch File function only work if Workbench is open on my PC?
i.e. if I am on leave and one of my colleagues saves the file. Will Workbench still upload the file? Or does my workbench have to be open to do this?

Workbench has a service that runs the jobs. Workbench does not need to be open on your PC but the PC must be on and the service running for the file watch to continue uploading files.
