Using "domo token add"

So I had my admin generate me a token (since domo login requires username/password.) I've logged in using that token (domo token add). However, when I try running my custom app, I'm getting an error from domo.get()  along the lines of 

No DomoApp found for id <xxx>

 Intiuitively this makes sense since I created the DomoApp using my own account. And would like to continue to do so, and not require the admin to create a domo app for me. If I understand correctly, the problem is that the admin-generated token links back to the admin account. Right? If so, how do I move forward from here?
