DomoStats_Groups - Centralizing Feedback
I am working on feedback on each of the DomoStats datasets. Please add any additional feedback to the comments.
For group reporting, the following 3 datasets would be expected:
- Groups - Unique list of ALL groups with relevant metadata like group type, creation date, created by, last modified, and number of members.
- Group Owners - Group ID, Owner Type, Owner ID
- Group Members - Group ID, User ID
Currently, Group Owners is available and Group Members is in Beta. Since the data for Group Members has been out as 'Groups' for a year, and was just replaced with Owners, I hope it will be a relatively short Beta.
The datasets with group members was fine and group owners appears to be in good shape. We just also need a dataset which includes one line per group for ALL groups, regardless of ownership or membership, since both of those can be null. These fields can also result in multiple lines, which makes them useless for joining.
***General Note for Domo - Something to put on a checklist somewhere is that each object type needs one dataset with top-level metadata and one line per object id. From there, we can join all the other many to one tables, but we need the tree to have a trunk.
Automatically add new fields from input datasource to dataset view
Makes no sense that fields added to an input datasource to a dataset view don't automatically get added to the dataset view. Huge headache to have to go into the dataset view and add a field every time the input dataset has a field added.
Re: Sharing custom themes in App Studio
The design choice here is puzzling. The whole purpose of creating a theme is (usually) so that it can reused in order to easily apply the same look everywhere. To have a custom theme saved only to the app it was created in defeats the purpose.

Complimentary Text Color for Data Labels for Line Bar Chart
I have always use Complimentary text color for data labels in my chart as it makes the labels much easier to read. This is where I would normally go to set it:
However for unexplained reasons (the Domo Support team mentioned that this is by design) I am not able to set the same for a Line + Bar Chart type, see below where the option to select Text Color is replaced with standard color palette options.
The problem with manually setting the label text color is that it forces the same color across all the labels, so if I set it to white so it can easily be seen on the bar chart elements, the label text are no longer visible on my line chart because the white text are going against the white background.
If the complimentary option is made available, it would have been smart enough to set white text on colored background and dark text on white background. I was also told that there is no "backend enablement" for this and my only hope is to raise this here.

Google Sheets - Metadata Import
As an analyst I'd like to import metadata about the Google Sheet as columns
Metadata like: Google Sheet Name, Google Sheet Tab Name, and any other attributes that might be available
In order to do automated data quality checks, and provide enhanced exploration on data sourced from Google Sheets
Domo Variables postMessage Enhancement
Similar to the current jsonRPC postMessages events sent from an embedded dashboard to the parent, that are listed below:
- "/v1/onDrill"
- "/v1/onFrameSizeChange"
- "/v1/onFiltersChange"
I'd like to request that events be sent for variable updates in the embed.
We're currently using onFiltersChange to store the user's filter settings to be reused again during another session and/or platform. We'd like to be able to save the user's selected variable as well.
And if possible, a similar option postMessage filters, could there be support to sending a postMessage for variables?

In domo we need to an option to pass our Parent page filter to child page.
Limit options in page filters
I do not need all the fields from the dataset or all the BEAST MODES created to be available for the end-user, as they might get confused with the hundreds of fields available in the drop-down. I want to restrict the fields that I want to show to the customer on the page level based upon the business. I might use many fields for calculations or for creating cards but I do not want those fields to be available for end-user at the page level.
