December 2023 Community Forum Highlights
The holidays have come and gone, and a new year has begun! Before we move on to 2024, let’s look back at last month’s Domo Community achievements.
Leaderboard’s Top 3
We have some very familiar faces on our leaderboard. While many of us were taking a well-deserved break over the holidays, some of you still had questions that needed answering. These three, along with a handful of other users, were here to answer the call. Thank you to everyone who put in the time and effort this month to keep the answers coming.
- @GrantSmith: 680 points
- @MarkSnodgrass: 528 points
- @ColemenWilson: 264 points

Newest Contributors
Climbing the ranks is never easy, but this newest contributor certainly made it appear so. Congratulations to our newest Contributor @Kunal—we’ve got our eyes on you.
Community Member of the Month
Our CMM for December is an individual who eats, breaths, and sleeps Domo. We’re fairly certain he could build a fully functional dashboard with his eyes closed. John Le, or better known as the head dude of Dashboard Dudes, really showed up last month for the community. He participated in 16 discussions and had 13 accepted answers and 217 total points. Thank you, John, for your continued support of the community and Domo as a whole.
Re: Card switching using a filter/control in a dashboard
Great idea, thanks for taking the time to submit it. This is something we've discussed adding capabilities like this in the future.
Re: Removing yesterday data from ETL
You'll use a FILTER tile applying that to the date field you want to filter out. Another option is to use a FORMULA tile to create a column that will flag if the date field is yesterday or not CASE WHEN column = TODAY() - 1 THEN 'Yesterday' ELSE 'Not Yesterday' END(or something along that line) and filter at the card/dashboard level, so that way your data will always be complete and you're only narrowing down at the display level.
Re: Removing yesterday data from ETL
You can use a filter tile with a formula and the CURRENT_DATE() function:
`Date` < CURRENT_DATE() - 1
How to find the source table of a Snowflake federated DataSet?
Hi,
This is probably a trivial question. I've created a Snowflake federated DataSet after selecting the Snoflake account, database schema and source table. Once the DataSet has been created, how to find the Snowflake table that it queries?
The table schema is prominently displayed in the "View Full Schema" section of the DataSet page, but I can't seem to find the *name* of the table itself.
Re: Create A Beastmode filter that Shows Prior Year Sales in January, then switches to YTD starting Feb
Hi @Stephanie_Price I think this is what you're looking for:
CASE
WHEN
MONTH(CURRENT_DATE()) = 1 AND YEAR(`Date`) = YEAR(CURRENT_DATE()) - 1
THEN 'Include'
WHEN
MONTH(CURRENT_DATE()) > 1 AND `Date` >= DATE_FORMAT(CURRENT_DATE() ,'%Y-01-01')
THEN 'Include'
ELSE 'Exclude'
END
- First WHEN Clause (For January):
- Checks if the current month is January (
MONTH(CURRENT_DATE()) = 1). - Includes dates from the previous year (
YEAR(Date) = YEAR(CURRENT_DATE()) - 1).
- Checks if the current month is January (
- Second WHEN Clause (For February and onwards):
- Checks if the current month is after January (
MONTH(CURRENT_DATE()) > 1). - Includes dates from the start of the current year up to the current date (
Date >= DATE_FORMAT(CURRENT_DATE() ,'%Y-01-01')).
- Checks if the current month is after January (
- ELSE Clause:
- Excludes all other dates.
This logic will show data from the previous year in January and YTD data from the current year starting in February.
