Re: How to create a beast mode for 1st initial of first name and add the last name
Try this:
CONCAT(LEFT(TicketOwnderFirstName,1),TicketOwnerLastName)
Re: Why cannot I public embed a form built through App studio, It appears blank when embedded.
OK. I can't speak to what our plans are there as I haven't checked with the apps and security team. I'd think the fact that these forms in App Studio will be allowed to be embedded publicly opens up the door for bricks that write to collections to embedded publicly too but my understanding is we blocked that functionality in public embed for security reasons.
Re: forcing x-axis in bar chart to ignore filters
The only way that I can think of making that work is by creating rows in your data with a value of 0 for each category/filter combination. You can do this pretty easily in Magic ETL if you are not able to do it directly in your source data.
Office 365 PPT Plugin - Can't use Beast Modes as filters
Hi everyone,
I was just wondering, do you know how to use beast modes as filters on the new O365 plugin? I only see the fields that are coming directly from the datasets as filters, but can't see beast modes.
Thanks!
Re: Waterfall Chart - Dynamic colour for first bar
@warrenrebello Thanks for sharing this feedback. The team is actively working to improve this and you should see the new changes in a couple of months.
Re: Enable Preview Up to Point in ETL
@jimsteph yes! Great idea. most of the time I'm making changes at the tail end, and just need to test a few new tiles added. I would also think this would be advantageous for Domo because it would minimize unnecessary reprocessing…
Re: Enable Preview Up to Point in ETL
I would take it a step further and make it so that if you make a change to a tile after a preview you can tell it to recalculate the preview for that tile without having to recalculate all of the preceding tiles. This is already available in the SQL ETLs, and would be a huge time saver.

Re: Column failed to convert from String to Floating Decimal
Did you check to see if the text formatting - only show number tile kept your decimal place? I believe it will remove that as well which will be problematic for you.
I would suggest using a formula tile and then using two replace functions (one to remove the dollar sign, and the other to remove the commas) followed by try_cast to do all that work in one tile. It would look like this:
TRY_CAST(REPLACE(REPLACE(myfield,'$',''),',','') as DECIMAL)
Re: Alter Column: file to convert type String to Date
Hello @verytiredgirl,
Why don't you try Dynamic Unpivot instead of Unpivot?
If your data initially includes columns for Jan 2024, Feb 2024, Mar 2024, and Apr 2024, start by Add Constant tile, then perform a dynamic unpivot. Here's an example:
Initial Dataset:
Magic ETL:
Add Constant tile:
Dynamic Unpivot tile:
Result:
Then you can remove the TEMP column and convert the Date column in any format you like.
Re: How can I format my Alert so that it displays the information in vertical text?
You can get this format easily and by default using a dataset alert rather than a card alert:
