Re: Allow manual refresh of Cloud Amplifier / Federated dataset schema
Since joining Domo a little over a month ago, I've heard a few requests for a manual "Refresh Now" button. I see the need for it – when building / testing MagicETL data flows as well as in other areas.
This is on our roadmap, and I'm hoping to get it scheduled for dev in the coming months.
Another enhancement that we're planning – for which we already have mockups – is the ability to define separate caching TTL rules for tables / datasets individually or in groups … instead of having just one TTL setting that applies to all tables / datasets within a Cloud Amplifier integration. This way, some datasets could be scheduled to update frequently (to avoid staleness) while others be cached for longer periods (to reduce costs in the underlying CDW).
Even with fine-grain control of caching on a per-table basis, I still think there is a need for manual "Refresh Now" in ad hoc prototyping and testing.

On my end, I was able to figure out what the issue was, as unfortunatley Wendy's response did not work for me.
But after hearing back from Domo Support, I learned that my recent access to a beta feature had caused a UI glitch in my system. Domo pushed a bug fix shortly after and its been fine ever since.

The REST API would be optimized for real-time, small queries. You request a dataset and SalesForce returns the results immediately. Probably has request limits and daily quotes. Use case would be for syncing a single object like pull all accounts or leads daily. For dashboards that don't require a bunch of historial data. i.e. "Give me today's updates."
The Bulk API would be optmized for large scale data extractions. It would create a job, process the request asynchronously, and return the data in chunks. This would handle big datasets (millions) more efficiently than the REST API. You won't get the data instantly because it runs the job to fetch the results. The use case would be for getting history for many years. Like event logs.
