Re: ETL not joining despite matching columns
Joins are also case-sensitive. I often will convert text to uppercase to use for joining and then drop those columns later.
Re: How to cancel a scheduled update from an ODBC connection?
Do you, or someone on your team, have access to Workbench?
Re: How to cancel a scheduled update from an ODBC connection?
ODBC connection is in Windows > Administrator. There are two versions : 32 bit and 64 bit. You need to edit using the version that matches what was configured. If you don't find it in one, go to the other. Generally you want 64 bit for a 64 bit operating system. But sometimes compatibility leads to configuring in 32 bit.
Check each tab if you can't find it. But it's probably on the System DSN tab. That however, is just the ODBC connection. The schedule may have been set elsewhere like Task Scheduler. Check Task Scheduler to see if there is a scheduled task that looks like a Domo connection. There's no telling where the schedule was set. It might be in SQL jobs, or elsewhere depending upon what's calling the job.
As Colemen asked…have you checked to see if you have Domo Workbench on a machine? I agree with him - that is the first place I would look.
Re: Adding a new dataset after creating a Custom App
Not sure where this landed but in case someone stumbles upon this post these are the steps I've found I have to take when adding a new dataset to the manifest:
- Publish the app to Domo
- Open the apps wiring screen in domo by editing the card it is on
- Make sure the new dataset is showing, and then hit the Save & Finish button.
Once I go through that process I'm able to make calls to the new dataset in the development environment without any issues.
Re: when I set up Trellis/tiered date, i am not able to select part of the data to zoom in?
I can confirm that I see that too. With no tiered dates, I'm able to select a range of columns:
With the tiered dates, I am no longer able to select an area of the chart to filter (a picture showing an absence of a behavior, lol):
For how helpful trellises can be in organizing a big chunk of data, there are some frustrating limitations to using them, as well, like the developers haven't thought to carry over all the features from un-trellised charts.
Re: Creating a date range in Beast Mode
You can also switch the axis to be displayed as a date by going to: Admin > Company Settings > Company Overview > Cards > Week display > Week Dates (1/15/2001)
This will change all cards graphed by week to show as a date instead of week number.
If you don't want to do that, you can change from Week number to a custom date format by: Chart Properties > Category scale (x) > Date output format
I also like @trafalger solution if you want a range. The risk there is that sorting could get jacked up since it will be a string and may require additional formatting to sort properly.
If you are graphing by week, in my opinion the end date of the week isn't really needed.
Re: Impersonate Users
Yes, it works for an admin as well. Hit the shield icon and choose Select policies. Then you can pick which policy or policies you want to have enabled at any time. This works for any user that exists in multiple policies, including Admins.

Running total spilling into a new column
Hi all,
I have a problem where if the 'used' column goes above the 'authorized' column then we need to start adding to the 'used' column below.
For example, when we use over 700m of our authority (total authority is 1.55 billion) then we need to start adding to the 2nd line of 'used'
i.e. if we have used 790 million then 700 would go to the first line and 90 would go to the 2nd.
This would be the output
700 m authorized, 700m used, 0 available
750 m authorized, 90m used, 660m available
I am working in magic etl and am not sure how to set this up. I was thinking a rank and order but am not sure how the logic would work on it.
We have a dataflow that can automatically update the 'used' portion but the authorized portion is coming from a webform that multiple people use.
Does anyone have any insight?

Re: Is there any easier way to adjust date error caused by timezone?
You can use Beast Mode to adjust your timestamp for time zone differences.
Step 1: Identify the time zone offset
Determine the fixed offset between the time zones. For example, if you want to adjust from UTC to a specific time zone, you need to know the standard offset (e.g., UTC-5 for EST).
Step 2: Adjust for Daylight Saving Time
Create a logic to account for DST. This can be done using conditional statements in Beast Mode.
CASE
WHEN DATE_FORMAT(your_date_column, '%m-%d') BETWEEN '03-08' AND '11-01' THEN DATE_SUB(your_date_column, INTERVAL 4 HOUR)
ELSE DATE_SUB(your_date_column, INTERVAL 5 HOUR)
END
Or you can manipulate it in an ETL or Python.
from datetime import datetime
import pytz #Your date string from Google Sheets date_str = '2024-03-31 23:16'
date_format = '%Y-%m-%d %H:%M' #Parse the date date_obj = datetime.strptime(date_str, date_format) #Define the original and target timezones original_tz = pytz.timezone('UTC')
target_tz = pytz.timezone('America/New_York') #Localize the date to the original timezone and convert to the target timezone localized_date = original_tz.localize(date_obj)
adjusted_date = localized_date.astimezone(target_tz) print(adjusted_date)
