Re: Unable to add a control to the dashboard
I have run into this before. I had to create a quick filter that used the variable on the card and then save and close the card. After that, the dashboard recognized the variable and I was able to add it to the dashboard.
Re: How do we keep the changes we make to the people's DOMO name?
@WorldWarHulk I agree with all of @ArborRose's suggestions. I would also recommend checking the activity log for User Renaming events that have occurred, which may give you more information on what is going on.
Re: UI for Dataset ID
I've only found it on the URL or via code (API). Here's a Domo reference for finding it on details.

Automatically export Dataset from Domo
Hello Domo comunity,
We are looking for automatic dataset export from Domo to email. Is there an easy way to do that on a daily basis and what would be your suggestion to do that?
Thank you in advance!
Re: Custom Domo to Excel Writeback
I've utilized Python and the pydomo package to export data from Domo and then utilize the pandas package to export the different datasets to an excel file. It's a bit technical and involved but gave me the greatest flexibility.
Re: ETL not joining despite matching columns
The preview is limited to the first certain number of rows of data, so if there are no matches at the top of the inputs, it might not find any data to preview after the join, just give you a green check if it's a logically sound join.
Re: ETL not joining despite matching columns
Can you share the screenshot of the Magic ETL & the data from both datasets?
Re: ETL not joining despite matching columns
Have you identified that there are matching rows for each side of the join? Sometimes when troubleshooting a frustrating ETL, it's good to start with a very small subset of your full data. Here, you could filter both sides of your join for a value (or handful of values) that you believe should match, create an output for both before the join, and and an output after the join and inspect what's happening.
Re: ETL not joining despite matching columns
Joins are also case-sensitive. I often will convert text to uppercase to use for joining and then drop those columns later.
