Re: Domo workbench - "attempting to open data source"
@DTGeorge I still don't know what exactly causes this, but we ended up paying a database administrator (we don't have our own) to really fine tune our stored procedure. She utilized a lot of temp tables and indexing. I am by no means qualified to talk in depth about why this helped, but I believe the gist of it was that temp tables use memory and so it is "easier" or "quicker" on the database.
For example, we are pulling 4 years of data, but I wasn't specifying the 4 years until the very end of the query, so the procedure was going through the entire history of all the tables I am joining, and then at the end narrowing it down to 4 years.
She put a temp table at the very beginning narrowing it down to the primary keys and 4 years of data, then used this table to for the joins of the other tables.
Her work was a lot more complex than this brief explanation, but after she cleaned it up we have no longer had this issue.

@kierenp Annnnnd here is a KB article on how to use it :-)
Re: PPT Add-in: No ability to transfer cards over that were imported vis PPT Plug-in
Good news @kierenp!
We actually just this month released the functionality to convert PPTs over to the new addins.
I've attached a GIF showing how to do so in the post below this.
I'd love to know how you go using this feature, but please note - I recommend you take a backup of your documents before converting them over, as the action cannot be undone once converted. That way should there be any problems along the way you're not in a bad state.
One last note, you may need to fix some card sizing/positioning after converting.
Re: Trying to convert Month of the Year into Date with Magic ETL
Your format string isn't quite correct. You need something like
DATE_FORMAT(`Month of the year`, '%Y%m%d')
One concern though is that the months are set to a specific year - is this intended or will other years have the same month?
Re: Trying to convert Month of the Year into Date with Magic ETL
You can use the formula tile and use the concat and date functions to build your date and make it be recognized as a date field.
Here is an example where the date will always be in 2018
DATE(CONCAT(`Month of the year`,'/1/2018'))
Here is another example where it will extract the year from the current date
DATE(CONCAT(`Month of the year`,'/1/',YEAR(CURRENT_DATE())))
Re: Trying to convert Month of the Year into Date with Magic ETL
Here's my video on how to do this using a CAST function:
Re: Converting to Integer
@Kyle_Russell It looks like there are some spaces in the as well. If you wrap a TRIM function around it that should work:
CAST(TRIM(REPLACE(`Amount`,',','')) as DOUBLE)
