Re: Report to show how many cards use the same specific dimension
In the Domo Governance Dataset Connector there's a Card Fields and Beast Modes report which should list all the fields used on a card for you. You can then take that data, group by the dataset and field and count the distinct number of card IDs to see how many cards are using the field.
Re: Are Averaged Aggregated Percentages % Straight Averages or Weighted Averages?
Neither of you are 'wrong' but it is inaccurate to say "it doesn't do average of an average"
i'd agree "it's misleading to take the average of an average" but it can be done.
this distinction is important because in many situations, new developers get tripped up about logic that's applied before or after the aggregation. I.e. at the row level vs. after the GROUP BY clause has been applied.
-- row level calculation (average of an average) select avg( colA/colB ) from table group by ...
in the above example we are taking an average at the row level (a / b) and then aggregating it again after the group by. on most of days of the week we'd agree that's wrong.
-- aggregate calculation (the 'mathematically correct' approach) sum(colA) / sum(colB) from table group by ...
here there all the math happens AFTER the group by clause. this is usually 'right'.
i'm spending time on this b/c i've seen people try to write
CASE WHEN DATE < today()-30 THEN sum(colA) / sum(colB) END
this is 'wrong' b/c usually we want the CASE statement evaluated BEFORE aggregation (i.e. i only want activity older than 30 days). but b/c the inner function contains the aggregation (sum), the aggregation already happend (i.e. i've taken the average of all my data and lumped it into one number). it's impossible to test if the activity occured more than 30 days ago at this point.
to calculate "only activity that occured 30 days ago" you have to apply the logic on the row level.
sum(case when ... then amount) / sum(case when ... then denominatorAmount)
Re: Dataflow wont run!
usually if the dataflow isn't bugged (as @GrantSmith suggested), if the dataflow won't run it's b/c it's already running.
Re: Replicating SQL statement in Magic ETL Formula tool
you can write formulas in the GROUP BY tile too.
but as @GrantSmith pointed out, a Formula tile cannot have any aggregations (MAX, SUM, COUNT)
Re: Unique Count based on Revenue Amount
see my post at the bottom.
you can't write the CASE statement AFTER aggregation and expect a result.
COUNT(DISTINCT CASE when `Revenue Amount (Global)` > 100000 then `Contact ID` END)
this might work if your revenue is a column on the dataset
Re: Adding a cumulative total line in a multi line chart in Domo
I would suggest adding a segment to show your total line. You can click on Add Dynamic Segment, select A, B, C. etc.., and assign a color for the line. Then drag the field into the segment field, which will become available after a segment is created.
You can read the KB article about segments here: https://domohelp.domo.com/hc/en-us/articles/4403089503383-Creating-Segments-in-Analyzer
Re: Adrenaline version of SQL
Adrenaline is a homegrown sql database. It doesn't have a 'version' per se.
Syntax will most closely resemble the syntax you're accustomed to using in BeastModes and the formula tile in Magic 2.0
What problem are you trying to solve?
Checkbox Selector not showing all values?
Good morning,
While trying to create a Checkbox Selector to use as a filter, I've run into an issue where the card is only showing some values instead of them all. It's not even a massive data set; it's 15 values. However, when creating the card I see the dreaded "Warning: Not all data is shown" message (14 of the 15 are selectable). Any thoughts on what might be happening here? Limit Rows is set to default (All Rows). This is really weird. Thanks.

Re: how to create a bar line chart
You still don't have the correct chart type selected. On the far right, under chart types click on the dropdown list that currently says "period over period" and choose "popular charts". You will then see a new list of charts. Choose Line Bar. Once you have that selected, drag a field to the y-axis and choose an aggregation type and then drag a field to the series and choose an aggregation type and drag a field to the x-axis (typically your date field).
Re: Row Combine
@EWold - You don't need to include UE_OrgUnitID in the second part of the ETL tile.
You only want to aggregate the three time values that you listed earlier.
QA_TimeStarted -> Maximum
QA_TimeCompleted -> Maximum
CA_DateAccess -> Maximum
This will take your data and provide you with a single row of data for each unique grouping of
- UE_OrgUnitID
- OU_MasterCourses_CourseName
- OU_CourseIsActive
Each row will contain the most recent value for each of the times listed above.
