Re: Case Statement with Count Distinct
Are you keying your admitted based off of STATUS or and ADMITDATE field?
What issues are you running into with your beast mode?
It looks like you're missing the trailing ) in your beast mode after the END.
Re: Is it possible to retrieve Variables when using Bricks?
hello @marcel_luthi .
First I want to clarify for some that might read this thread thinking we are talking about the Variables product.
https://domo-support.domo.com/s/article/7903767835031?language=en_US
Bricks and Custom Apps do NOT work with the Variables product and there is no current workaround. Now when you're not talking about the Domo Variables product, but just talking about a passing data from one brick to another brick or another dashboard, there's one approach that comes to mind. One very common use case is the need to persist filters from one dashboard to another. This is accomplished using a combination of domo.onFiltersUpdate() and appDB.
The steps could look like this:
- The app/brick exists on both Dashboard 1 and Dashboard 2
- The app uses
domo.onFiltersUpdate()(https://developer.domo.com/portal/e947d87e17547-domo-js) to listen for page filters being added/removed on the page - Whenever that listener triggers, you can store the filters in a javascript variable
- Write the data in that variable to an appDB collection
- Navigate to new dashboard
- On initial render, that brick, the same brick that was on the first dashboard, reads from appDB to find the filters that you previously wrote to appDB.
- It then uses
domo.FilterContainer()to apply page filters on the new page
There are other things you'd have to catch and account for, like avoiding a permanent loop of writing to appDB then reading to appDB then applying filters then writing to appDB etc.
Similarly, if you have 2 bricks and you want some action you take in brick 1 to change behavior in brick 2, you can use appDB to pass those values to the other brick.
Here is the appDB documentation: https://developer.domo.com/portal/1l1fm2g0sfm69-app-db-api
Is anyone else having difficulty connecting to Twitter?
Twitrter must have changed something about their authentication. I can authenticate just fine on the web site, but my data set shows "Domo is ready, but Twitter returned Could not authenticate you."
I tried to reauthenticate the access account and just got a blank screen.
I also tried to add a new account and got the Domo error "Oops… Something went wrong. Please try again later."
Custom Sorting Using a Field (Specifically Sales Funnel)
Not sure if this is possible or not.
Basically I'm taking a a list of Sales Opportunities and putting them in a funnel by stage (Count) that way is shows how many opportunities are in each stage of the Sales Process. The thing I'm having trouble with is getting them sorted from beginning to the end vs alphabetical.
The stages I'm showing consist of:
1: Bullpen
2: On-Deck
3: 1st Base
4: 2nd Base
5: 3rd Base
However sorting alphabetically gives me
1: 1st Base
2: 2nd Base
3: 3rd Base
4: Bullpen
5: On-Deck
The funnel should show all the lowest level things which aren't far in the process up at the top and all the deals getting closer to being signed on the way down.
Is there a way I can sort them into the order I want since no other field sorting method will make it work (I think).
If it helps this is Salesforce Opportunities Data.
Weird Sorting Issue - Total Sales
Hi, Experts,
I created a domo card in table view for some top-level KPIs. I am running into an issue when I sort by Total Sales (calculated field/beast mode) by ascending you get the column sorted by 0 to the bottom. When you sort by descending it sorts by blanks.
Thoughts or help would be greatly appreciated.
Re: Time to Number value
I'd recommend looking into TIME_TO_SEC function to convert your string into total seconds then you can divide that number by 3600 to convert to it to hours and then SUM it.
TIME_TO_SEC
Returns an elapsed number of seconds for all values in a date/time column.
TIME_TO_SEC('DateCol')
Re: Stack-Bar Line Graphs
Should be something like below:
CASE WHEN `field` = 'Bucket 1 Value' THEN `value` END
You can then use the aggregation options if you want to do a sum / min / max / avg. Just make sure you change the logic for your two different buckets
Re: Stack-Bar Line Graphs
You can set your y-axis to be your total number / metric and then use two beast modes to calculate each of your two buckets for your bar, dragging each beast mode into your series section of your chart.
Re: Creating a separate column using magic ETL
@Stucker A couple notes on your formula:
- Campaign is being recognized as a text value instead of a dataset field when using single quotes. Wrapping it in the ` character should resolve this
- You will need to include the % wildcard when using the LIKE operator. If WBH is always at the beginning of the string you can use
like 'WBH%', or if it can be anywhere in the string you can uselike '%WBH%'

And yet, this ideas exchange post shows up in the list as if it is an unanswered question.
