I need syntax help. Bit of a newbie trying to teach themselves IF/LIKE/OR
The specific task is to identify if a truck is a F-250,350, 2500, or 3500. The Column is "model" that I'm looking for the partial match in the model column. I keep getting syntax errors.
CASE
WHEN
`model`LIKE ‘%F 250%’
OR `model` LIKE ‘%F-250%’
OR `model` LIKE ‘%F250%’
OR `model` LIKE ‘%E-350%’
OR `model` LIKE ‘%E-250%’
OR `model` LIKE ‘%2500%’
OR `model` LIKE ‘%3500%’
THEN 110
When `Actual bid 2` > 2500 THEN 120
ELSE 110
END
Just kidding never mind I fixed it.
I needed to use IN instead of LIKE
CASE
WHEN `model`IN ('%F 250%')
OR 'model' IN ('%F-250%')
OR 'model' IN ('%F250%')
OR 'model' IN ('%F-350%')
OR 'model' IN ('%F350%')
THEN 110
When `Actual bid 2` > 2500 THEN 120
ELSE 110
END
Re: View as user or view as role
@JordanJensen I think there's some assumptions built in to that question about the Domo Admin being an IT Admin or having the power to set up a service account / test account.
In addition to this, imagine what that would look like to validate the experience in Domo of in a hypothetical small 6 person Domo instance with you as CEO, and your CFO, CMO, COO, CTO, CIO… you would need to create the 7th test user, then need to add then remove all permissions to your test account each time you wanted to view someone's experience. Add CFO … remove CFO add CMO… remove CMO add COO… instead of having an ability to "view as" to ensure that they all have the expected Domo Interface.
The idea around restrictions and permissions, if you could blur or placeholder cards I don't think it would be an issue. Most of the time it would be helpful simply to quickly understand what it looks like when they visit a page. I do understand though that some companies have more restrictive controls around their data where this feature might just need to be completely disabled by a CSM / Superuser
Re: RANK Issues
@Marie_Serrano Each row/column combination used in a card are treated as a "row" from the perspective of the Limit Rows function. If you are using both rows and columns in a pivot table, then I suggest adding a Rank column in the MagicETL using the Rank & Window tile and filtering by that rank instead. The only drawback of this method is that the ranking will not dynamically change when users change the card filters.
Re: How can I calculate a percent of total in a Beast Mode?
Domo has these things called data label macros that might work for you here. Below is the link to their help section for data label macros.
http://wiki.domo.com/confluence/pages/viewpage.action?pageId=37454694
I'm assuming you're going to use a stacked bar chart to show the product % breakdown. If so, you can use the %_PERCENT_OF_CATEGORY macro which will automatically do this calculation for you. Once you've selectd the chart type and have added the x-axis, y-axis and the Series fields, go to Data Label Settings under chart properties and in the Text box, type in %_PERCENT_OF_CATEGORY in all caps and then tab out of the field and turn on your data labels by setting the Position and Justification fields. If you hover over that Text box, it will show you in a pop up what other macros are available.
This will do the calculation for you and will display it as the label on the chart and if you hover over the chart, it will still show your 'unit sales' values.
Re: Performance of private embedding
Hi @MattTheGuru thanks again for your prompt reply.
On point number 2. We have tested this in the past and can confirm that the dashboards embedded don't periodically refresh and also do not refresh (unlike boards on the instance) when the underlying dataset changes.
Yes agree I think we can just refresh an iframe in the background and swap it out. I had thought there would be a way with the js api where we could just apply filters perhaps with empty filters so the cards just refresh themselves.
Re: Storing Projected Values
David,
This gives me some other approaches and thought. I really appreciate it.
Thank you,
Re: Performance of private embedding
@MattTheGuru Hi again.
We are going to go down the route of lazy loading the boards into iframe. If the iframe has been alive for a while we want to refresh the dashboard. Ideally we don't want to refresh the iframe itself.
Do you know of a simple way to just call refresh on all of the content? I assume via the js api?
I suppose we'd be looking to just reapply any filters selected so the data is updated.
Thanks
