Heatmaps are some of my long time favorites....
So I have been meaning to post this for a while. And many here know I am very passionate about up leveling how we communicate new feature releases for Domo with our customers and our user community. While we have made huge strides, there are still some small things that sometimes sneak out without the formal release fanfare (which I was reminded of this again reviewing content for our upcoming customer release in 2 weeks!).
And well, heatmap cards have long been some of my favorite to use in Domo and we recently (or in the last couple months) added two cool setting for the Heatmap card type in Domo (note this is different than the Heatmap table type and is under Other or Popular Charts):
1) Add a total row and/or column (without having to pre calc a ton of things)
2) Set how many series you want to show (before if you used top X rows it would show 5 values not the first 5 set of data)See below for example showing the legacy view and then tabs showing the totals and Adding Top 5)
Screenshots attached and you can also go ahead and see how it works in this Domo App Studio App:
Have fun!
Re: App Studio - Move/Copy Card Functionality
Adding onto this - it will also allow for cards in app studio to sync with cards outside of app studio. I have an app that has a card, but it also exists on a dashboard that is exported as a report. It would be nice not to have to change both, but link them.
Re: Solution: Beast Mode & Pivot Table Aggregation Error
Hello @abarrie23 ,
I think i see the issue here, it looks like you are mixing your aggregations in your case statement.
The THEN result appears to just be a non aggregated column, while the ELSE results in a Window function aggregation. When you mix aggregation results and non aggregation results you end up with multiple results which is what causes the issue.
To correct the issue, you will need to re-design your code to ensure that the results are all the same level. And it can be hard to say what will work without knowing the data structure, but if i had to guess, you might be able to add an aggregation to your THEN statement to get the aggregations to align. So depending on your datasetup, I would suggest trying a SUM or a MAX or MIN around your THEN statement.
CASE
when Term Length (Months) > 0 then MAX(Term Length (Months))
else
SUM(SUM(Term length (lookup)) FIXED (BY Document Number))
END

Re: Comment out tiles in MagicETL
A Comment Box to document the subpart of complex ETLs would be great for now addition to Comment out tiles. For reference, here's what they have in Alteryx.
Re: Comment out tiles in MagicETL
This is an idea I've been deeply interested in as well, as a heavy Magic user myself. I do have it on my backlog, but with this additional signal, I will review this with the team again. Thank you for surfacing this!
I have a lot of ideas along this vein, including better commenting in general, grouping/boxing of tiles together, markup on the canvas etc.
Re: Comment out tiles in MagicETL
PLEASE!!! For the love of all you hold dear, Domo…Please give us this! It's been requested for many years and is standard in any coding that's done. Doesn't seem to make sense that this capability is lacking.
Re: Stacked Bar Chart with Line Graph
I'm not sure if I understand the question. Does this help?
Year | Outcome | Type | Count |
|---|---|---|---|
2023 | Win | Retain | 50 |
2023 | Win | Capture | 30 |
2023 | Loss | Retain | 20 |
2023 | Loss | Capture | 15 |
2024 | Win | Retain | 60 |
2024 | Win | Capture | 35 |
2024 | Loss | Retain | 25 |
2024 | Loss | Capture | 10 |
outcome and type:
CONCAT(Outcome, ' - ', Type)
retain:
SUM(CASE WHEN `Type` = 'Retain' THEN `Count` ELSE 0 END)
wins:
SUM(CASE WHEN `Outcome` = 'Win' THEN `Count` ELSE 0 END)
