Re: What to Know Before Implementing Domo Certifications
It works well if effort and training are put towards it. Make sure to train your users that only certified things are to be trusted and used for reporting purposes. The other thing is to determine the different departments and levels of certification you want to apply for and who is in charge of giving the approval. Should it be a single person or does it need to go to a group or through a chain of people to receive approval? Make sure you have a consistent process defined in terms of what is expected to pass through the certification process and make that available to users so they know what was done to ensure the certification.
Things like:
- Visualization expectations
- Titles, tooltips, data labels, color schemes, etc.
- Data Accuracy
- Dataset powering cards are certified
- Anything that is critical to make sure it's accurate and consistent for your forward-facing assets.
Also making sure that users can't make changes to your certified content by either locking down pages, changing ownership or other methods is important however if changes are made the certification flag will be removed from certified content.
Re: Beast mode errors in dataset views
@Jobur Are all of the fields referenced in your formula in your final grouped output?
Re: Showing some values based on SUM, other values based on the most recent date available for the week?
@Stemiller Do you have a field in your dataset that flags the most recent date or would the most recent date always be today/yesterday/etc.? If so you could aggregate your snapshot data in a beast mode like this:
max(case whenDate= CURRENT_DATE() thenInventory on Handend)
or
max(case whenLast Date Flag= 1 thenInventory on Handend)
Re: Possible to graph a linear equation?
Yes, it is possible to graph a linear equation in Domo.
GoalVariance = (E_Rate)x + (N_Rate)y
To graph this equation in Domo, you can use the "Line" chart type, which allows you to plot a line based on a mathematical equation. Here are the steps you can follow:
- Create a new "Line" chart in Domo.
- In the "Data" tab, select the data source that contains the values for E_Rate, N_Rate, and GoalVariance.
- In the "X-Axis" section, select the column that corresponds to x (typically E_Rate in this case).
- In the "Y-Axis" section, select the column that corresponds to y (typically N_Rate in this case).
- In the "Line" section, select the "Equation" option.
- In the "Equation" input field, enter the linear equation in the form of y = mx + b, where m is the slope (E_Rate in this case) and b is the y-intercept (GoalVariance / N_Rate in this case).
- Click "Apply" to see the graph of the linear equation.
Note that you may need to adjust the scale of the x-axis and y-axis to make sure the graph is displayed correctly.

Re: Creating a separate column using magic ETL
I agree with everything @MichelleH said, it's likely the lack of % or difference between ` or ' are causing your syntax errors. I would add to keep in mind that CASE statements are evaluated sequentially when using the LIKE operator.
If your data includes values such as 'WBH - Wisconsin' and 'WBH - Wabash' evaluating like 'WBH%' then 'Wabash' before 'WBH - Wisc%' then 'Wisconsin' will result in both values being evaluated as 'Wabash'
