Re: How can we apply drill down functionality between two dashboards in domo?
@jaymin_63 Sadly, interactions don't work when you want to pass filters between cards and pages. I'm not sure if there's an easier way to do this, but I have been able to do this using a DDX Brick card. You can download DDX brick cards from the appstore in Domo, but they do require a little bit of JavaScript. The DDX brick cards are fully functional at setup and have JS that you can customize. I have used the DDX Map Link Navigation before and made the following update to the onClick function already in the code.
Market is the column name that I'm hoping to pass the selected value from the card to the 2nd dashboard. This is done through a pfilter, which I believe is just a page filter, like the ones that apply at the top of dashboards. As long as you have the dataset selected in the card and have the value and name selected in the DDX brick this should work!
function onClick(name) {
var openInNewWindow = true;
// Using name since that is the passed in argument for the function onClick
var link = 'https://optumcare.domo.com/page/773431254?pfilters=[{"column":"Market","dataType":"string","operand":"IN","values":["' + String(name) + '"]}]';
// console.log(name); - returns ['STATE'] - object, have to cast as String()
domo.navigate(link, openInNewWindow);
// domo.navigate('https://www.google.com/search?q=' + value, openInNewWindow);
}
Re: Is there a reason why you cannot change the legend labels in a Period over Period chart type?
So I didnt use the variables for that @Sayyed007, but it helped me realize that my x axis was wrong. If I want 12 months to be graphed and have multiple years on it I needed to graph by a column with Month names in it, instead of a date column that includes years in it. This way I am able to graph side by side different years with the x axis consisting of just the 12 months.
My month_year x axis allows me to get multiple years on it. Phew, what a relief. This has been my biggest learning curve since joining DOMO, getting time-series graphs to behave the way I'd like them too. But we live and learn. Thanks @Sayyed007 @ST_-Superman-_ & @MichelleH !
Re: Creating a group.
Assuming you're wanting a bucket for your applications and not an actual user group here you can utilize a magic ETL to enhance your data.
With a formula tile and a CASE statement you can then create your groupings:
CASE WHEN `Application` like 'STARTSWITHFORGROUP1%' THEN 'Group 1' WHEN `Application` like 'STARTSWITHFORGROUP2%' THEN 'Group 2' WHEN `Application` like 'STARTSWITHFORGROUP3%' THEN 'Group 3' WHEN `Application` like 'STARTSWITHFORGROUP4%' THEN 'Group 4' ELSE 'OTHER' END
I do it in a magic ETL as the resulting field isn't dependent on filtering of values and will allow cards to render faster since it's being preprocessed in an ETL and not attempting to process it when a card is rendered.
Re: Is there a reason why you cannot change the legend labels in a Period over Period chart type?
Looks like the series that you were using is Year. I would try creating a calculated field. Assuming you don't have any future dates in your data you could do something like this:
CASE
WHEN
DATE_SUB(DATE_SUB(CURDATE(), INTERVAL 12 MONTH), INTERVAL DAYOFMONTH(CURDATE())-1)
>DateField
THEN 'Current'
WHEN
DATE_SUB(DATE_SUB(CURDATE(), INTERVAL 24 MONTH), INTERVAL DAYOFMONTH(CURDATE())-1)
>DateField
THEN 'Previous'
END
You could then place this in your filter and select 'Current' and 'Previous'. Then use this field as your series as well. You can change the "Current" or "Previous" in the formula to whatever you want the label to say
Re: Is there a way to pull data from the body of an email
@NathanDorsch I'd suggest using the Dataset via Email connector with the File Type set to "Email Body as HTML", then add the corresponding Domo email address to the distribution list for these emails. Based on the format of the tables, you may want to add the email dataset as an input for MagicETL to pivot the data so that the Portual User ID is a column instead of a row.
Re: Transferring work from on Domo environment to another
@froghunter I'd recommend using the Dataset Copy Connector to push any existing datasets to the second instance:
Re: Transferring work from on Domo environment to another
@froghunter Domo Everywhere should allow you to publish content to other instances, though I haven't personally used it. Here is an article about how that works:
Re: Creating a rolling standard deviation within magic ETL
I'm not sure how large your data set is, but I was able to accomplish this in Magic ETL in the following way…
My dataset has two columns, row count and number. In this case, number is just a random number between 1 and 100.
- Added a constant to my dataset and duplicated the tile
- Cross Join the two tiles on my Constant value
- by naming the second tile 'duplicate' the autofix feature of the join tile will append 'dupliacte.' to all of the duplicate rows of data
- The Filter tile is where I am setting the 90 row window. I use two formula rules:
- Then I use the Group by tile to create a formula and calculate the Standard deviation:
Hope this helps. This question has been bothering me for a long time because I couldn't figure out a solution.
How to build filters with images or icons
A Domo user was recently having a hard time figuring out how to incorporate images and icons into her filters.
Here are a couple of awesome videos that helped her solve her problem.
Hopefully, this can help anyone who runs into a similar issue in the future!
Re: Why is this not working
@domoexpert You are likely getting an error because of the second "case when" in your forumla. Case statements must follow this format:
case
when ___ then ___
when ___ then ___
…
else ___ — this is optional
end
I also recommend putting the case inside the sum and formatting functions. Here is what that should look like:
concat(round(sum(case
when `Sales/Volume` = 'Sales' and YEAR(`Datestamp`) = YEAR(CURDATE()) - 2
then `Sales_USD`
else 0 end)/1000000,0),'M')
