Re: Can I Create Variables in Beast Mode?
Re: calculate percentage difference between 2 values which is in a column
I think it's not working in your pivot table as laid out because you have the difference column underneath your larger categories of ACTUAL and BUDGET (so in the ACTUAL - difference, the only data the beast mode has is actuals).
The way we've implemented this is using an HTML table and just creating a beast mode for actuals, a beast mode for budget, and a beast mode for variance.
ACTUALS:
sum(
case when `version` = 'Actuals' then `account_value`
ELSE 0
end)
BUDGET:
sum(
case when `version` = 'Budget' then `account_value`
ELSE 0
end)
Variance:
(sum(
case when `version` = 'Actuals' then `account_value` else 0
end)
-
sum(
case when `version` = 'Budget' then `account_value` else 0
end))/
sum(
case when `version` = 'Budget' then `account_value` else 0
end)
Note that the variance calc here is actually a ratio, and then we use the domo formatting to format it to a percent.

Re: calculate percentage difference between 2 values which is in a column
I agree with @mhouston. Your original beast mode with the sum inside the case when statements just does the calculation on a line by line basis in your base table. If you want to do a sum or any calculation based on your table as a whole, then you have to put your case when inside the SUM function.
Re: IF Condition
@RajNadar It sounds like you need a CASE statement. You can read more about how these work in this Knowledge Base article: https://domohelp.domo.com/hc/en-us/articles/360043429933-Beast-Mode-Functions-Reference-Guide#2.3.
Re: IF Condition
case
when Model is null then 'Ignore'
else 'Keep'
end
Then you can filter on Keep
Alternatively, you could also do
ifnull(Model, 'Blank')
then filter out Blank

Daylight Savings messing with Scheduling
How are people handling the effects daylight savings has on scheduling in domo? All of my connectors and everything in workbench is now running an hour later because domo schedules everything based on UTC. From what I've read, the only way to fix this is by going through each individual dataset and scheduling it an hour earlier. There has to be a simpler way. Doing this twice a year is an inefficient use of time and it gets more and more frustrating as the number of connections we use grows.
Re: Pivot Table summary values
@alexk, how large is your dataset? Sometimes with pivot tables if the dataset is huge, it won't display all the data in each category row.
Re: Pivot Table summary values
@alexk are you sorting on anything? Sometimes that can cause issues.

Re: Dashboard display based on current time
You can't dynamically tell a page to filter on different values (filter on shift 1 / filter on shift 2) depending on the time of the day. You'd likely need to have a beast mode that calculates the shifts as either "Current" or "Other" and then have a default page filter where shift = Current.
Re: SQL View of DataSets
@EWold It depends on where your dataset comes from. If the dataset is an output of a dataflow, you should be able to see the query in the dataflow editor if it is from a MySQL or Redshift dataflow. Otherwise, I don't believe there is a way to produce the SQL query from a MagicETL.
