Re: formula to include values that don't contain string
When you want to exclude something that contains a certain string, you need to use NOT LIKE. So your beast mode would look like this:
case when `EVENT_NAME` like '%Add-To-Cart%' and `EVENT_PARAMS_PAGE_LOCATION` not like '%/shop/%' then 'Add to Cart from XXX' end
Re: Can Admins Manage Other Users Notification Settings?
Currently no, only the user can modify their own notification settings. That'd likely be a good idea to submit to the idea exchange to give admins more control of notifications.
Re: understanding null vs blank or empty string values
CASE WHEN COALESCE(TRIM(`field`), '') = '' THEN 'Blank' ELSE 'Not Blank' END
COALESCE will return the first non-null value it finds, used in this case it's saying if the field is null return an empty string. I've wrapped the field in a trim to remove any leading or trailing whitespaces in case someone has a value of all spaces to ignore. Then it is compared to an empty string after it's been converted.
A more verbose way would be:
CASE WHEN `field` IS NULL or TRIM(`field`) = '' THEN 'Blank' ELSE 'Not Blank' END
NULL is a very specific value. The only way to check for null is to use IS NULL or a COALESCE / IFNULL function to default it to a specific value and compare that value.
Most functions you use on NULL or comparison will result in a NULL value back because NULL represents the absence of data.
Re: Period over Period Chart Field Names
The period over period chart types are pretty limited, which is why people often create other ways to compare periods. Here is a link to a video I did showing another way just by creating a few beast mode fields:
@GrantSmith has also created this post that walks you through creating a date dimension dataset to create the comparison cards.
Hope this helps.
OR statements in card filtering
Hi folks - We have a dataset where users can have datapointA and datapointB. We want to build a card where an end user can have a filter that asks for any user has datapointA = 'green' OR 'databpointB = 'circle'.
When we put those two datasets in a dataflow/card and add the datapoints as Quick Filters, it automatically assumes we want datapointA = 'green' AND 'databpointB = 'circle'.
How do we build quick filter conditions that assume ORs?
Re: Aggregate count function does not work in the denominator
@Musetti, Since you're looking to make a percentage, try removing the 100* from your beast mode and then change the format of your value to be a percentage.
Re: How to add a Background image to the dashboard
The image can only be a certain size, and Domo will automatically crop the image to fit. It doesn't appear that there's an option for gradients, so that may be something to post on the idea exchange.
Re: How to add a Background image to the dashboard
To set the background image for a Page,
- On the Page you want to change the background color of, select Edit Dashboard in the
menu in the top right corner of the Page.
- In the Options menu at the top of the screen, select Change background.
- (Conditional) If Color Fill is selected in the menu at the top of the dialog, choose Image Fill.
- Click Choose Image.
- Locate and select your image on your machine.
- (Optional) To change the default background color (which is only used before the image has loaded on the Page), click Change then choose the new color from the palette (or enter a hexadecimal code in the field at the bottom of the palette).
- (Optional) To change the default text color used on the Page, select the new color in the menu under "Default text color."
- Currently only black and white are available as text colors.
If you want to change your background image, click Choose New Image at the bottom of the dialog then locate and select the new image on your machine.

Re: Convert text to date
@ozarkram It looks like you just need to cast your result to a date rather than datetime like this:
CAST(STR_TO_DATE(`MFGDTE`,'%Y-%m-%d') as DATE)
Re: Convert text to date
Hi @ozarkram are you using ETL or Beast mode? Also could you share a few examples of what your MFGDTE values look like?
