Re: Card Analyzer - Date Filter Options
Maybe an "include / exclude current_date" option.
Re: Card Analyzer - Date Filter Options
I agree, this makes some of the date ranges on cards appear confusing. For example, to show the last "7 days" of sales data, we make a card titled "Sales: Last 7 Days" but have to select the date range for last 8 days and then write a filter that removes the current day. Calling out Last 7 Days in the title and then having the user see the date range on the card is set to "Last 8 Days" is confusing.
Re: FIXED functions are difficult to understand and should be rolled into WINDOW functions
Don't forget that you can use FIXED to allow the calculation to ignore filtered fields as well. I don't believe that is doable with partitioning. I do think we could all benefit from more understanding around what FIXED is compared to WINDOW functions and when/why to use one over the other.
Re: Rank based on 2 metrics?
In your OVER clause, you should be able to add ORDER BY and list current run DESC, total current run DESC so that it will sort by current run first and then total current run after that.
Re: Can you stream Salesforce data in real-time?
@travorhouse is it possible for Domo to ingest data and store it in Domo in (almost) real time? ... theoretically yes.
Domo does have IOT use cases but they are still updating Domo in batches (increasingly smaller batches but still not true streaming). It just costs money. and Domo's pricing for low latency pipelines historically has not been ... something you can just look up :D
You could trigger a dataset to update as soon as it finished the previous update using automation something like what's presented in this video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=v-8HYp6b4KU&t=8s (but Domo wouldn't thank you for it) :D
for smaller batches, especially if you can do some sort of incremental load scheme or take advantage of a webhook connector + APPEND https://youtu.be/YOaOzpXGtbo, you could get pretty fast updates (probably lower than 5 minutes ON AVERAGE.
but i stress average, because sometimes the Domo platform has ... stuff going on where your batch updates might be delayed 5+ minutes while under the covers system maintenance stuff is going on.
if you needed TRUE streaming, your best bet might be to accumulate the data outside of Domo and then use a Federated Query to access the data, but then you can't transform it in Domo.

Re: Period Over Period Calculation Challenges
( (CASE when `Period Type`='Current' then `Shipped CoGS`end) - (CASE when `Period Type`= 'Last Month' then `Shipped CoGS` end) ) / (CASE when `Period Type`='Last Month' then `Shipped CoGS`end)
you are calculating your beast mode at the row level. in other words, take one row in isolation and then apply your beast mode to it.
you Period Type for one row cannot be both 'Current' AND 'Last Month' at the same time. therefore it is IMPOSSIBLE for one row to return a result.
you have to apply your beast mode to an aggregate (which is exactly what @RobSomers ) is demonstrating.
( SUM(CASE when `Period Type`='Current' then `Shipped CoGS`end) - SUM(CASE when `Period Type`= 'Last Month' then `Shipped CoGS` end) ) / SUM(CASE when `Period Type`='Last Month' then `Shipped CoGS`end)
"across all rows take the sum of shipped cogs when period type is current."
"across all rows take the sum of shipped cogs when period type is last month" etc.
Re: Is there a way to make column headings on the DOMO table cards dynamic?
Hi @charles I do not believe this is an option. Have you considered using a Pivot Table card instead?
Re: Period Over Period Calculation Challenges
@RocketMichael Is your dataset organized at day grain like your table? Or are you doing the aggregation in your card? If it's in your card, you're going to need to throw SUM around all your case when statements:
(SUM(CASE when `Period Type`='Current' then `Shipped CoGS`end) - SUM(CASE when `Period Type`= 'Last Month' then `Shipped CoGS` end)) / SUM(CASE when `Period Type`='Last Month' then `Shipped CoGS`end)
Re: Automatically share everything in Domo with admins
i'm not sure ...
i think a better practice would be to manage and share content with a group and then just be good about assigning admins to groups.
for my projects, I actually like it that I can't see ALL the dashboards when I sign into an instance just b/c I'm an Admin. instead I have a group for each project and just try to make sure I get the right people in that group. when an admin rolls of the project, it's easy for them to keep a cleaner UI.
