How to cascade filter single dropdowns in Domo App design Studio?

Hi,

I'm creating "dashboard" in Domo App Design Studio (Adobe Illustrator extension) and need to cascade filter two single dropdowns values...

I.e. when "Region 1" selected in Dropdown 1 then only relevant subregions for region 1 should be displayed in Dropdown 2 and so on...

How can i do this?

Thanks

Karel

  • Hi Karel,

What you will have to do is set up two filters in the app. You will have to add your secondary filter to the "WIDGETS TO FILTER" section of the primary filter and choose "Display Name" as the Column to Filter. So when you make a selection on your primary filter it will cascade to your secondary filter.

An example of how this works ...

Your primary filter might have this data ...

    Display Name            Value

    North                         North

    East                            East

    South                         South

    West                          West

And your secondary filter would have this ...

    Display Name            Value

    North                         Bob D

    North                         Rachel G

    West                         Susan S

    West                         Mike S

    South                        Steve P

    South                        Carol S

    East                          Sid K

    East                          Jordan S

In this scenario, when you filter North in your primary filter, only Bob D and Rachel G will show as selections in your secondary filter.

    Good luck,

    Brian

  • HI Brian,

    thanks for your reply.

Single dropdowns does not have any "WIDGETS TO FILTER" option so I'm not able to select.

On the other side - multiple select dropdowns have such option, and I'm able to filter. But the issue in this scenatio is that only THE LAST item from filtered list is displayed in the second dropdown.

For instance if I use below mentioned lists it will show this:

    Dropdown1 selected EAST

Dropdown2 shows one item labelled "Jordan S" while expected is to show two items labelled "Sid K" and "Jordan S"

    Thanks for any further advice

    Karel
