What's Your Asian Zodiac?
Lunar New Year is tomorrow and I made an Asian Zodiac calculator last night using Domo ETL, Domo Dimensions and Domo App Studio.
I am very curious about everyone's Yin/Yang Animal Element sign. Please enter yours
I am a Yin Fire Cat - Feels purrfect.
Re: Has anyone ever deleted a copy of a dashboard and then the original dashboard gets deleted with it?
@MParr At our company we have a process to archive pages rather than delete them.
1. Create a page called something like "Archived Pages"
2. Move the page you want to archive as a subpage of "Archived Pages"
3. Remove sharing for everyone but you (and maybe your team as well)
4. Add [Archived] or [ARC] as a prefix to the page
5. Optional: Add a text box on the top of the page explaining when it was archived, why it was archived and if there is a replacement page.
It just so happens that Karl Altern at Domo has created a way to automate the archiving of pages if you need to do them in mass. I'm sure he'd be glad to talk through it with you, karl.altern@domo.com.
Re: Using Domo Workflow, is there a way to store data in a dataset when a user fills out a form?
Hi there!
Yes there is a way to do this.
If I recall correctly, it is easiest if you set up the a webform as the dataset you intend to add data to, to map out your field names. Once that exists, you should be able to add a step in your workflow that uses an APPEND TO DATASET tool from the DOMO Datasets Code Function Package. (first image)
A super key thing to keep in mind here is that the text from the form can sometimes work against the log. For example if I said "We had a great day, no support issues" the comma is going to be treated as a comma separated list instead of punctuation.
In order to avoid this, you will want to use a Text Substitutions tool from the Code Function Package DOMO Text Utilities or do a dynamic replace for commas to blanks for any field that may contain them as punctuation rather than a list. (You will want to separate tool for each of those fields). (second image)
Hope this helps!
Re: How to add Child to Object in Workflows
Looks like you have discovered a defect. We should have a fix out for you later today. Sorry for the inconvenience.
Re: How to add Child to Object in Workflows
It looks like this is a bug. Stand by for resolution/additional details.
Re: Can a "Response Required Email" step in a workflow be sent to a variable user?
Not that I'm aware of, but I can't speak for the product team. Everyone THINKS they want the email user task, until they actually use it. Having to login on the browser after you click the button, having the predefined responses…it really isn't a great user experience.
I'd encourage you to try forms and either the dedicated Task Center app, or accessing Task Center on the mobile app. It's a far better experience.
Re: Grant "Manage Datasets", but lock down a few datasets
I hope someone has found a better way, but here is what we have done:
1. Do not give them the grant to manage datasets
2. Create a dataset tag "RESTRICTED"
3. Add the RESTRICTED tag to restricted datasets we don't want them to see.
4. Bulk share all datasets without the tag "RESTRICTED" to them as "Co-owner"
-You can share 50 datasets at a time
5. At the same time of sharing, a tag is also added in bulk to all 50 datasets called "Shared with BI Team" so I know which ones haven't yet been shared.
This could 100% be automated using a workflow but we haven't got that far yet.
