Re: Governance Toolkit
- Dataset Backup - I haven't found a need to use this. Domo has version history where you can restore previous versions of datasets / etls. I guess you could get some use out of dataset backup if the version history isn't enough.
- PDP Automation - Very useful if you have PDP on your datasets. PDP can be used to create selective views of a dataset. For example, if you want a manager at a store to only view information for their store and hide all the other stores. Every visual / dashboard they see will be filtered according to the PDP policy. You could also create tiered levels of access where store managers view their store only, regional managers can see the whole region, and corporate managers can see all the stores and regions. The benefit of using PDP is that everyone can be looking at the same dashboard but seeing different information. This reduces the # of dashboards and time you need to spend maintaining / updating the front end visuals. It also increases the cohesiveness of your dashboards, which is very important for user experience. PDP automation removes the need to assign PDP rules manually, saving a lot of time if PDP is something you use in your Domo.

Re: Automatically export Dataset from Domo
I would recommend using the API to do this, it will require the following.
1: Script that pulls down the data of a specific dataset into a CSV (all doable with the API/SDK. I've done this in Python).
2: Once the file is downloaded the script would send it via email
3: A way to run the script on a schedule so that you can have it run daily.
This seems to me to be the most basic way you can do this. You would be able to re-use almost all the code for any dataset you want to do this for, you would just swap out the dataset ID to get different datasets.
Here is some example Python code from a script I made to do this, it'll get you started (if you do it in Python)
import json
import requests
import datetime
# Base64 version of combined id+secret
base64auth = {InsertYourBase64Auth}
api_host = 'api.domo.com'
# Get token from Domo
token = requests.get('https://api.domo.com/oauth/token?grant_type=client_credentials&scope=audit data', headers={'Authorization': 'Basic ' + base64auth})
token = json.loads(token.text)
token = token['access_token']
dataset_id ={EnterYourDatasetId}
csv_file_path = 'C:\\Users\\{UserAccount}\\PycharmProjects\\DomoScripts\\files\\jira-data.csv'
# GET request for the dataset list data
dataset_endpoint = "https://api.domo.com/v1/datasets/"+ dataset_id + "/data?includeHeader=true&fileName=jira-data.csv"
dataset_response = requests.get(dataset_endpoint, headers={'Accept': 'text/csv','Authorization': 'bearer ' + token})
with open(csv_file_path,'wb') as csv_file:
for chunk in dataset_response.iter_content(chunk_size=1024):
if chunk:
csv_file.write(chunk)
csv_file.close()

In the "Page settings" of each page, you can use an "image fill" for the background for each individual page.

Re: Parameters Defaulting to First Option when Published.
It's how the publication is interpreting your options. You could log a ticket with Domo Support to see if the development team can look into the issue or alternatively you could put your default option first in your list.
Re: Converting Variables to pass to AppDb
So, you need to create an object with an object inside of it.
{ content: {
key: value,
key2: value2,
key3: value3 }
}
Let me find some code I use for that real quick.
