Re: Request for Topics
- +1 on Account Management. I have spent a ton of time creating dashboards to audit my instance (more advanced than just DomoStats). In order to monitor what is coming in, going out, and managing users (especially across multiple instances). Learning how/why to create custom roles would also be a good part of that.
- +1 on Domo Everywhere content. Best practices for creating published jobs would be good. Especially since each job creates a new federated dataset. I made a mess when I started and now I have to clean it up 🙃
- How to utilize new features once they come out, I always struggle creating content for my users regarding new features so then we just don't end up using them for a while. Having some concrete examples would be useful (ex. I never got to using Segments and I still couldn't tell you how to use them).
- Best practices for instance health. I have so many users creating so many flows and rows of data that could be much more optimized. Going over Magic ETL best practices for a clean instance and quicker run time would be useful.
- Creating alerts to manage data. This is one I learned to do myself by doing error checking in flows to create error datasets, making error checking cards, and more recently just putting alerts on a dataset. Knowing your data is wrong before it has time to make it to the end user is very useful.

Request for Topics
Community friends, I need your help!
The Domo Education Team is looking for topics to use for a new series of videos, based on real-world scenarios and solutions. The theme of the series is walk-throughs of design patterns, processes, techniques, etc., that everyone should have in their Domo skills arsenal. To that end, I'd love to know from all of you: what's something you wish you had known earlier that could you think other Domo users could benefit from. We're looking for broadly applicable topics that might be helpful for a number of use cases.
As an example, here's a pilot video we produced on the Rank & Filter design pattern in Magic ETL:
What do you think? What topics would be most beneficial to your user base, or other Domo users?
Thank you in advance for your insight!

Re: Export Beast Mode from Beast Mode Manager
This is available through the Domo Governance datasets. If you haven't used this connector before, it has quite a bit of information about your instance. Go to your data center and then click on Connectors and search for Domo Governance. You can then choose Beast Modes as a report and it will add the dataset with the information you need.
Re: Trigger Frequency Option - When All Datasets Updated
it's not in product yet, but you can do this with scripting.
Re: how to break a week between months
You can utilize some date manipulation and some case statements:
CONCAT(CASE WHEN DAYOFMONTH(`End Date`) < DAYOFMONTH(`Start Date`) THEN `End Date` - INTERVAL (DAYOFMONTH(`End Date`) -1) DAY ELSE `Start Date` END, ' - ', `End Date`
Breaking this down:
CONCAT - Joining the two dates together with a ' - ' between
CASE WHEN DAYOFMONTH(`End Date`) < DAYOFMONTH(`Start Date`)
Is the end day of the month less than the start date's day of the month. In other words. Did we cross month boundaries?
`End Date` - INTERVAL (DAYOFMONTH(`End Date`) -1)
Take the end date and subtract the number of days for the given day of the month. -1 here to make sure we don't go to the end of the prior month but to the first of the month (we want day 1 not day 0).
Re: Text unique values - only count for each option
@zgranperc With your Audience field having multiple options in each row, you're going to need to do a beast mode for each option. First one would be:
SUM(case when 'Audience' like '%C-Suite%' then 1 else 0 end)
Then just repeat, looking for the corresponding option for each one. You'll need to be careful on the Manager one and use:
'Audience' like '%Manager%' and 'Audience' not like '%Below%'
Re: Get First of Month in ETL
I know you were looking for the first day ability, but that does not appear to be an option. If last day would be an option then I could help, but it will involve a MYSQL dataflow. Here is the syntax that you would use.
Select last_day(Date) as 'Month End Date'
This will create a new column that returns the last day of the month from the date column you are working in.
Re: Get First of Month in ETL
If you've got your Month and Year already, you could do the following:
1. Add a constant where the value is 1 and the type is text
2. Add a Combine Columns and follow the screenshot below to combine the Month, 1, and Year into a string your example + mine would result in a string of 7/1/2018
3. Use Set Column Type with 'Date' and 'Month First' to convert it to a date type.

The steps and flow order above should give you a new Date column where all dates are the first of the month.
Let me know if you have any questions,

Re: How to periodically REPLACE in addition to APPEND jobs?
You'd need two separate jobs, one for hourly append and one for monthly replace updating the same dataset. There is some risk involved with this as it can cause them both to run at the same time and get unexpected results. What you can do is limit the hourly job to run in between certain hours and then once a month or whatever you schedule the replace job to be within the append job downtime.
