Re: How to display column value in Smart Text without selecting filter value?
@Josh_Overett Your use case sounds like it's better suited for a Summary Number rather than Smart Text. Here are a few KB articles that can help guide you on out to display a date in the summary number using beast mode: https://domohelp.zendesk.com/hc/en-us/articles/360043428753-Configuring-Your-Chart-Summary-Number#5.
Re: I'm trying to figure out a beast mode for a card for points?
Points to dollars:
'points' / 10 (ex: for 500 points, 500/10 = $50
Or going from dollars to points:
'dollars' * 10 (ex: for $50, 50*10 = 500 points)
You're not really dropping a zero, you're just moving the decimal point one spot over.
Re: Newbie23
And if it's the case that you'd need to have filters applied, then yes using beast mode is recommended but initially posed using magic ETL for the calculation due to better processing/rendering of a dashboard page.

Re: Filter is removing nulls plus specified value
@NateBI Nulls don't play well with logical operators. Null isn't the same thing as nothing, it really means that the value is unknown. Is null blue? SQL doesn't know so it treats it as if it meets the condition.
You can use a formula rule to get around this:
IFNULL('status','') = 'Blue'
This will replace your NULL value with a blank which it can evaluate in the comparison.
Alternatively, you could use the formula:
'status' = 'Blue' or 'status' IS NULL
Re: ETL Calculation
@zuchu You will want to use a Rand & Window tile:
You'll do a sum of the costs and partition by the order number. This will give you the total of the order on each row that the order number appears.
Re: ETL Calculation
My approach would be to use a group by tile here. I would group your orders by whatever your unique identifier is for a single order (the one with 5 items in this case). I'll call this field OrderID for demonstration purposes.
You would use a group by tile and group the data by OrderID . You would then add an aggregate field that would be the SUM of Cost field. You could call this field TotalCost
Next, you join this back to your original data (join on OrderID ). This will add a column to your original table that would be called TotalCost and would be the sum of all Cost within a single OrderID
@RobSomers I would recommend using rank and window tiles when you need a running total.
Re: Apply color rules to variable values
This feels like it would be a feature request. I'm not aware of any way to do this in the product currently. Could you post this again on the Ideas Exchange?
Ideas Exchange — Dojo Community (domo.com)
I would up-vote it, it's a great idea!
Re: How to calculate best?
For the final calculation, you could try something like:
(SUM(CASE WHEN `Field` IN ('9','10') THEN 1 ELSE 0 END) -- Sum of 9 and 10
-
SUM(CASE WHEN `Field` IN ('9','10') THEN 0 ELSE 1 END)) -- Sum of all Other Values
/
COUNT(`Field`)
It's hard to be too sure without seeing more of the dataset, Could you post a few lines of the data?
