Re: First Word Grouping
You can use the SPLIT_PART function.
SPLIT_PART(`Name`, ' | ', 1)
This will get the first value in your string split by the ' | ' delimiter.
Re: separating Output datasets from ETL
@NathanDorsch Have you tried modifying the dataflow updated settings so that your updates don't overlap? You could either set it up to run on a schedule or have it set to only run once the last dataset has updated. That could save you the headache of redirecting the ETL outputs.
Re: How to create a date field beastmode in Analyzer using 2 different date fields.
It friggen worked!!!! I had to modify it a little, but your idea was much more simple than what I was trying to do, which kept crashing DOMO. Mark, you seriously rock!!!
Re: How to create a date field beastmode in Analyzer using 2 different date fields.
@charles It looks as though your calendar_shipDT is really just determined by looking at the schedule_ShipDT and seeing which day of the week it is and making the calendar_shipDT be the appropriate Wednesday. Here is what I put together that would accomplish this:
CASE /* if the day of week of the schedule ship date is Wednesday, use that day */ WHEN `dt` = 4 THEN `dt` /* if the day of week of the schedule ship date is Sun, Mon, Tue, use the upcoming Wednesday */ WHEN `dt` < 4 THEN DATE_ADD(`dt`, INTERVAL (4-DAYOFWEEK(`dt`)) day) /* if the day of week of the schedule ship date is Thur, Fri, Sat, use the Wednesday in the following week */ WHEN `dt` > 4 THEN DATE_ADD(`dt`, INTERVAL (11-DAYOFWEEK(`dt`)) day) END
You would replace dt with your schedule_shipDT fieldname.
This would result in data that looks like this:
Let me know if that doesn't work for you.
Re: build a project timeline
You can't just do this with the way your data is currently structured. Domo required each month to have a record for it to be displayed. You'll need to feed your data into an ETL and have a record for each month with the monthly amount.
First use the formula above in an Add Formula tile to calculate the amount per month. In that tile also add another column called Grouping Column with a value of 1. Then you'll need to add the Domo Dimensions connector's Calendar dataset as an input. Filter this dataset where d = 1 so you only have one record per month. Use another Add Formula tile to add another Grouping Column field with a value of 1.
I'm assuming your date fields are actually a date. If it's a string you'll need to convert them to a date with some formulas formula (one for start date and one for end date, just update the field name):
STR_TO_DATE(`start date, '%b %Y')
Once you have those two datasets prepared you can join both of them together on your Join Column, then use a filter tile to filter using a condition like
`dt` BETWEEN `start date` and `end date`
You can then use the dt field in your table to display the number of hours needed per month
Re: Card filtering in analyzer
@jrtomici This is a common issue that has to do with how nulls are handled logically. You can get around this by creating a separate beast mode for your filter like this:
ifnull(`field`,'Filter out')
Re: Magic ETL: How to REMOVE Rows Meeting a Two-Column Criteria?
@pstrauss Nulls don't play well logical operators. Null doesn't mean there's no value, it means the value is unknown. Is the null in column_1 equal to A? SQL doesn't know. It might or it might not, so SQL treats at as meeting the condition. That's a simplified answer, but this gives a more in depth explanation:
So you will either need to include IS NOT NULL or IS NULL in your filter rules or formula to account for NULLS or use IFNULL() in your filter to assign a value to the nulls that can be used in the comparison.
Re: Is there a way to force a column header to be blank?
@Stuck You'll need to use the line break tag from HTML. If you put <br> as the data label, it will make the header blank.
