When charting by week it would be nice to have the following additional options:
- Ability to choose the method that determines 'Week 1'. For example, is it the first Monday of the year? The first Tuesday of the Year? The Tuesday that includes the 1st day of the year? Is it simply whichever date is the 1st day of the year? Many external systems use different approaches for calculating week, so the default domo week selection is usually not particularly useful.
- The ability for weeks to show as date values on the Axis of charts. Rather than showing Week 1, Week 2, etc… it would show 1/1/2024, 1/7/2024, etc… For this you should also be able to choose whether you want it to show as the start date of the week, or the end date of the week.
The current issue with showing Week 1, Week 2, etc… is that nobody knows what dates those periods cover. Did an important event happen that week that affected the data? Was there a bank holiday in that week? Unless you know how weeks are determined in Domo, you can't even back into the dates covered by the week, and that's too much to expect of everyone that could be looking at a card.
The above additional options would only show when using the date selector and choosing 'Week'.
This will results in many beastmodes being made redundant. As well as add really nice functionality that allows Domo to represent data in the same periods as the external systems it's pulling data from.
