Trigonometric Functions in Beastmode

We are trying to find a viable way to be able to enter a variable (zip code) and locate all records that are within a given radius distance of the zip code. This requires trig functions as well as variables. We are utilizing the beta variables version and trying to build this out. We have discovered that trigonometric functions are available in Magic ETL, but not in Beast Mode. In order for this to work, we'd need it in Beast Mode so that we could apply the function to the variable.

at the domo user conference @MichelleH showed how she used redshift + geometry functions to get that done.

We tried Trig Functions in Beast Mode and they do not work, only in ETL.

@JenniferGibson , @MichelleH used Redshift not Magic to get the job done.

Beast Modes run on Adrenaline (Domo's database layer), Magic runs in a different environment. Even though many of the functions use similar syntax there is not always 1:1 parity in implemented functions, AND they are not processed in the same space.

@JenniferGibson , @jaeW_at_Onyx is correct. Currently Redshift and Python are the methods where we've had success with location matching.

+1 for this. Would love to be able to pass a variable into a beast mode with trig functions to calculate a list of stores within X radius.
