The problem
The TikTok Ads connector brings in metrics like spend, impressions and clicks, but it doesn't bring in the dimensions that make them usable. The most important missing one is Campaign Name. The setup screen has no option to pick dimensions, so users can't add them on their own.
Without Campaign Name, the data can't be tied to specific campaigns. That means we can't:
- Report on performance by campaign
- Join TikTok data with our other paid media channels in cross-platform dashboards
- QA spend against platform numbers, or check pacing, at the campaign level
Business impact
TikTok is a core part of our paid media mix. Every other major ad connector we use lets us report by campaign. TikTok is the gap.
Proposed solution
- Add a dimension selector to the TikTok Ads connector setup, like the ones on other ad platform connectors.
- At minimum, include Campaign Name, Ad Group Name and Ad Name alongside their IDs.
- Nice to have: objective, placement and campaign status.
Why this matters beyond us
Any Domo customer running TikTok ads hits the same wall as soon as they try to report on anything below the account level. Fixing this would make the connector usable for real campaign reporting instead of account-level totals.
