Trellis Everything

I think a best practice in Domo is to keep the data in a long, unpivoted format as much as possible. That gives you the most flexibility in filtering, aggregation and visualization. To keep it in that format, cards that pivot the data across multiple categories are the best. To this end, one of my favorite features for this in Domo is the ability to trellis charts into multiple categories. That lets you play with multi-dimensional data in a really flexible way. I can use a variable on a single card to allow users to explore trends across different dimensions like Gender or Race/Ethnicity without needing to create a hundred different cards for every possible combination of dimension:

The cards that I end up using the least are those that can't trellis, so I would advocate that we be able to Trellis Everything™!

Every single card type would benefit from the ability to trellis, but these are the ones that I would push for first:

• Forecasting

• Scatter

• Box plots

• Single value/Text (see bottom)

• Pies/Donuts

• Histogram
• Bullet charts
