Our Finance team relies heavily on the New Domo Office Excel Add-In when using the Dataset Import function to pull large datasets from Domo. The add-in works well for basic imports, but there are critical gaps that limit efficiency and accuracy for financial workflows:
- No indication of how many rows will be imported once filters are applied.
- A row count preview would help users estimate load times and confirm dataset scope before committing to the import.
- The preview pane only displays the first 100 rows.
- Finance and audit teams often need to scan deeper to validate filters, check for outliers, or confirm ordering logic.
- Even the ability to page through (e.g., “next 100” or “next 1,000”) would address this gap.
- Filters appear to be limited to single-condition logic.
- Users need to build filters with both AND and OR operators, consistent with Analyzer/DataSet views.
- Example: (Department = Finance OR Department = Accounting) AND Period >= 202501.
- Importing large datasets has no early warning about row size or performance impact.
- A lightweight estimate such as “~250k rows / ~30MB” would help teams refine filters before pulling into Excel.
Summary of Request:
Enhance the New Office Add-In (Dataset Import function) with:
- Row count visibility after filter application
- Ability to preview more than 100 rows
- Full AND/OR filter logic
- Import size/performance awareness
These improvements would make the New Office Add-In’s Dataset Import function far more robust for Finance and other teams working with high-volume data, while reducing trial-and-error and improving trust in the results.
