Reusable "drill path"/cards

This request was previously submitted and the support team has instructed me to submit it again:

A common layout for us is to have one dataset with maybe 8-10 cards built on it shared on a single page. We want our users to be able to drill down in those cards and to eventually reach a "base table" that does NOT include all columns of the underlying dataset.

This means that each drill path has to be created and maintained separately for each card currently. It would be better if we could use an existing card as part of a drill path, or at least reuse the drill path view created with one card with the remaining cards so that the work of building and maintaining this doesn't get multiplied by the number of cards.

  • This would be very useful and huge timesaver because we often want most cards on a dashboard to have the same drill path. This would also help with maintenance, since we could be sure to update the single drillpath card, and not have to change all drill paths on all cards.

  • This is absolutely a recurring opportunity for us. A common pattern is:

    1. Display a top-level card that is a radial dial, single value, pie chart, etc.
    2. Drill one or two levels deep on some particular dimension
    3. End with a "Details" card that displays tabular data. For example, if we are showing Sales, we'd drill down all the way to a particular sales order detail and show things like order #, line #, SKU, qty ordered etc.

If you have 20 sales-related cards, we would like most of them to eventually drill down to this same detail card. Currently we have to duplicate it every time, which is cumbersome!
