Overview
Organizations that leverage Domo in embedded mode rely on seamless, automated access to analytics within their own applications. While Domo’s native platform supports robust report scheduling and distribution, these capabilities are not available when Domo is embedded. As a result, customers who embed Domo dashboards into their products or internal tools cannot automate recurring report delivery for their end users.
This feature proposes enabling Scheduled Reports in Embedded Domo, giving embedded clients the same automated distribution capabilities available in the core Domo experience.
Problem Statement
Embedded Domo customers need a way to automatically deliver insights to their users without requiring them to log into the embedded application. Key pain points include:
- Lack of automated email/report delivery for embedded users.
- Users cannot subscribe to scheduled dashboards, PDFs, or CSV exports.
- Product teams must build custom scheduling/reporting systems, duplicating functionality that already exists in Domo.
- Reduced engagement because end users do not receive proactive insights.
Without scheduling support, embedded deployments lack parity with Domo’s native functionality and limit how deeply organizations can integrate Domo into their workflows.
Proposed Solution
Enable Schedule Reports functionality within Domo’s embedded experience, allowing embedded users and application owners to:
- Create and manage scheduled reports directly in the embedded interface.
- Configure delivery options including:
- Frequency (daily, weekly, monthly, custom)
- File format (PDF, XLSX, CSV, snapshot image)
- Recipients (embedded users, user groups, external email addresses based on permissions)
- Respect embedded security (row-level filters, personalized data, SSO rules).
- Support scheduling for:
- Dashboards
- Cards/widgets
- Dataset exports
Benefits & Impact
For Embedded Clients
- Increased user engagement via automated, proactive insights.
- Reduced engineering overhead—no need to build custom reporting automation.
- Higher perceived feature parity with full Domo environments.
For End Users
- Receive relevant reports without logging in.
- Improved situational awareness (KPIs, anomalies, operational trends).
For Domo
- Stronger competitive positioning for embedded analytics deals.
- Expanded adoption of embedded mode into more workflow-driven environments.
Success Metrics
- Increase in embedded-mode feature adoption (scheduled reports usage).
- Higher engagement (open rates, report interactions).
- Reduced churn in embedded analytics accounts citing missing automation.
- Higher close rate for prospects requiring automated reporting in embedded analytics.
