Description:
Currently, when a dashboard or card in Domo queries data from Snowflake, there is no way to track or attribute the associated Snowflake compute cost back to the specific dashboard, card, or user that initiated it.
Organizations using Snowflake as a federated data source in Domo often want to perform cost attribution and chargeback across departments. For example, if Marketing and Finance teams are accessing different dashboards, we want to understand which team’s activity is consuming more Snowflake resources and incurring higher costs.
Use Case / Business Impact:
- User want to tag dashboards and cards by department (e.g., [Finance], [HR], [Sales]) and have Snowflake query logs mapped to those tags.
- This would help user understand query usage and cost by team, dashboard, and even user.
- The feature would provide better transparency into how federated queries from Domo impact our Snowflake spend.
- It would also enable internal cost optimization and accountability for data usage.
Without this capability, it’s difficult to justify or manage the Snowflake consumption generated through Domo usage.
