Control variable options that are populated by a dataset field or copy and paste

When creating a variable, we should be able to populate options based on a selected dataset field. Alternatively, there should be an option to paste values from spreadsheet rows to populate the variable options.
Here's my use case: I built a dashboard that allows users to compare different markets. There are 150+ markets available, but they may want to compare a small subset. Within that subset, they want to select one "Subject Market" to highlight amongst the others.
I've built a market filter that allows users to select a small subset, but I had to manually copy and paste each market name into the control to allow users to specify the "Subject Market." It would be great if control inputs could be populated from a field because it would help with two capabilities:
- Time saving
- Filtering the control — users do not like how the control filter for "Subject Market" doesn't limit to the previously selected markets
Therefore, it would be great if the variable creator had an option to populate based on a dataset field or spreadsheet rows.
