Custom Formula Default Selections for Slicer/Filter Cards

Currently, Domo’s slicer/filter cards require manual selection of default values, which can be limiting for use cases where the default selection should change dynamically based on the current date or other conditions. I propose the ability to set dynamic default values for slicers using conditional logic.
For example, when looking at seasonal data, the default selection should be able to adjust automatically based on the current month:
- January - April → Default to "Spring"
- May - July → Default to "Summer"
- August - October → Default to "Fall"
- November - December → Default to "Winter"
This would eliminate the need for users to manually adjust filters each time a new period begins, improving usability and automation.
Proposed Solution
Introduce an option within slicer/filter card settings to define dynamic default values using:
- Custom formulas to define default selections
Benefits
- Enhances automation and reduces manual filter adjustments
- Improves user experience by displaying the most relevant data by default
- Reduces friction for non-technical users by eliminating the need to manually update filters each period
